U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo discusses An American Sunrise as part of the National Endowment for the Arts “THE BIG READ” program.

Harjo’s virtual visit occurs in partnership with area schools, local arts and culture organizations, including lead sponsor Amherst Glebe Arts Response (AGAR), the Amherst County Public Schools, the Amherst County Public Library, the Monacan Cultural Foundation, Central Virginia Community College and Sweet Briar College.

The presentation will take place in the 1948 Theatre, located in the Fitness and Athletics Center. Please note that in-person guests to the College are required to wear a mask.
