Eras: 2000 years in 10 minutes

Thursday, October 9, 2025 | 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Pannell Gallery | Events

Join us for the opening night of Eras: People Watching 400 BCE to 2022 CE and a quick performance lecture by ten professors in 10 minutes covering 2000 years of people watching. How does the figurative art in our teaching collection help us see our human story? From martyred medieval saints to contemporary woman rebelling against dress codes, this show has it all, plus some big names, from Rembrant van Rijn and William Morris to Mary Cassat and Carrie Mae Weems. Also on show are 3-D printed classical vessels and a votive figure produced by Art History and Archeaology senior seminar students '25 and the largest work in our collection from the 1980s – Manhattan by Grace Hartigan.

There will be light, possibly medieval snacks and drinks, plus a chance to survey the full 2000+ years of figurative art your own pace with friends.
