Her works have received awards from competitions staged by the Korean Electro-Acoustic Music Society and the Italy Percussive Arts Society, as well as inclusion on the SEAMUS CD Series (vol. 16). She has also enjoyed collaborating with artists in other genres and her collaborative project Global Drift, for real-time audio visual installation/performance, was featured in Brisbane, Australia as part of the international large-scale artistic project Accented Body.

Dr. Kim received a Ph. D. in Music Composition from the University of Florida, an MA in Electroacoustic Music Composition from the Korean National University of Arts, and a BA in Piano Performance from Seoul National University. Currently she’s a lecturer of composition and keyboard at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

The Janet Lowrey Gager Community Concert Series is made possible by the support of the late Forrest Gager, in memory of his wife, Janet, who served as Sweet Briar’s director of public relations.
